Utah Book Month

I am so excited that it is Utah Book Month!  No I don't live in Utah anymore.. but I still love the state and visit it a few times a year.  Plus they have a really great blogging community.  This is my second year participating in this event.  Be sure to stop by their site to check out all that is going on for Utah Book Month.  Learn more about the state and all the bookish things there.  Last year I featured the Salt Lake City Library which is an AMAZING library with architecture that blew my mind.

Today I am supposed to feature a Utah Blogger (at the end of the month I have an interview with a blogger, and then an interview with a Utah Blogger but today was my choice).  I don't actually know any bloggers from Utah other then the ones already being featured so I thought I would feature the main site for Utah Book Month. Suey @ It's All About Books and Jessica @ The Bluestocking Society both run the group. Each of these blogs are outstanding and I follow both of them. They really make the month a lot of fun making sure that everyone is involved and featured. These two lovely ladies even host an event at the end of the month in Utah. This year I hope to be in Utah at this time and attend the event.

I am inspired by this group and am working on setting up something similar for Colorado Bloggers.  I think it would be a lot of fun.   Though I can tell it's a lot of work especially to spread the word and get people knowing about different groups.  Hoping to get this group up and running.. well sometime in the next few months.

Have you read any great Utah authors??  Ever been to the state of Utah??  What did you like about it??  I hope this post inspires you to stop by the blog and see everything we've got going for this month.  Enjoy and be on the look out for my other blog posts on Utah this month.

  1. I have never been to Utah. ;) Or America for that matter. It's awesome that you have like blogging communities big enough that you can like band together in one state! There aren't a whole lot of really big Aussie book blogs, which is sad, and I always get excited when I find one. I guess a lot of us live around the major cities? But, yes, we're small!

  2. I haven't traveled very far from home (Michigan), but I have a goal someday to visit each state, so maybe some day I'll be that way :)

  3. I didn't realize that Utah has it's own book month, and such a large blogging community. COOL! I obviously live in the wrong state... err... I mean country. ;) Thanks for sharing!

  4. What a fun idea for your spotlight, Angela! I love that you participate in Utah Book Month even though you don't live here any more. I hope you can make it to this year's social, so we can meet you!

  5. You know.. you should maybe think about setting up a group like this. You'd be surprised who might be looking for people in your community. I did try out this Colorado community once it was a nightmare. The girl's goals were for their own personal jobs.. it turned out they were marketers and were looking for ways to get authors to know who they were. Nightmare. But I plan to make it fun like this Utah group.

  7. HAHAH! Well.. if you do come over to the US be sure to go to Utah. That state really shows what the West is all about. The landscape in Southern Utah is just gorgeous.

Wow, I didn't even know it was Utah Book Month!! Cool I idea though. I've only been in the Salt Lake City Airport catching a connecting flight, so I don't think that really counts as a visit!! I don't know if I've ever read any books by an author from Utah. Have fun with Utah Book Month!!

  11. It's actually through Utah Book Month that I discovered your blog (last year or the year before I can't remember). So it has really introduced me to new people.

  13. The Salt Lake City Airport is really a nice airport. It's like the perfect size. Hopefully next time you are able to hop off the plane and tour the city a little.

  15. I have not been to Utah, but my good friend has a relative that lives there. The same friend also went to the Winter Olympics when they were in Utah!

This looks like a great event. My county has a Linn County Reads program. Each year they pick a book and challenge the residents to read it and sponsor events related to the book. I participated for the first time this year.

  16. I missed the Winter Olympics by a year! I moved to Utah right after. It was still neat though because I could see the torch, and in Park City the ski area still was painted with the Olympic rings. So pretty. How fun that you are participating with something bookish in your community. Was it fun?? Did you meet other bloggers?

  17. I've never stayed long in Utah, but I've passed through many times. I always enjoy the salt flats and the Great Salt Lake roadstop on I80. If I remember properly there's an interesting sculpture there.

My favorite author, Brandon Mull, is from Utah, I believe.

  18. Yes... I think that is the tree that is the sculpture there. Can you believe I have never been to the Bonneville Salt Flats? My father and I are going in a couple of weeks during the speed trails and I am quite excited about it. Brandon Mull is from Utah!!!

  19. Oh how neat. What a great idea. I do know a Utah blogger :D I don't think we have anything like that here in NC but a couple of us do meet up together at bookish events when we can :)

  20. Unfortunately I was busy for all the events they had scheduled. There were discussion groups and recipe swaps. It sounded like so much fun!

  21. I am trying to come up with a good graphic right now for the group. I need my husband's help with that since he knows how to use photoshop much better then myself.

  22. I think maybe you should try to set something up then for NC bloggers!! I bet your would be surprised who would join up and want to have a month for their state.
